Jeep Custom Installations
Jeep traces its roots back to 1941, where it was initially designed as a military support vehicle for WWII. After the war was over, the Jeeps popularity soared, mostly from its reliability on the battlefield. Between 1951-1953 there was even a farm version produced with a tractor type hitch and rear PTO (power take off), and hydraulics making it an operational tractor of sorts. Some say the name jeep was slang for G.P. or general purpose vehicle. Others say that an American general after his first ride in a prototype uttered “jeepers creepers”, a term that Charles H. Payne it’s designer took and shortened to ‘Jeep’ after that incident. We found a really interesting Jeep history site you can visit for more information.
